Since we're all stuck at home, there's never been a better time to try out covering our favourite songs. Right on the edge of punk, new wave and mainstream rock, something special happened this week when Weezer covered Green Day, who in turn covered Blondie.

Rivers Cuomo and his wife Kyoko Ito started off the round with a heartfelt cover of Green Day's eternal prom anthem "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)." While Rivers opts to avoid the tricky finger-picking, the song sounds great with his vocals and Kyoko's minimal piano.

We would've loved to hear Green Day do "El Scorcho," but instead they decided to cover Blondie's "Dreaming." It's certainly less of a quarantined home cover and more of a full-band fist-pumper. It sounds really great. Now we just need Blondie to cover Weezer and the circle will be complete.

Green Day and Weezer were meant to tour with Fall Out Boy on the "Hella Mega Tour," but it was postponed until 2021
