Weezer

"Back to the Shack"

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jul 21, 2014

Long-running alt-rock act Weezer are attempting a return to form on their upcoming new LP Everything Will Be Alright in the End. Today, we get the first proper taste of the album with "Back to the Shack."

The lyrics of the song practically see Rivers Cuomo explicitly apologizing for the band's last few albums, saying, "I thought I'd get a new audience, I forgot that disco sucks / I ended up with nobody and I started feeling dumb." The music utilizes some arena-ready riffs and a driving chorus. It's not exactly back to basics, but it's a step in the right direction.

Listen to "Back to the Shack" below. Everything Will Be Alright in the End is due out on September 30 through Republic.
