Published Feb 04, 2014Gotham City darkwave duo Weeknight have been tearing up the underground club circuit for quite sometime now. But having recently signed to Canadian record label Hand Drawn Dracula's new Artificial Records imprint, the Brooklyn-based two-piece have been slowly gaining a following across the border thanks to their atmospheric live show and lush synthscapes. On a recent visit to the New York City of the North (a.k.a. Toronto), Weeknight stopped by the world-renowned Freddie & Yoshimi's House to play a track off their forthcoming debut, Post-Everything (March 4).
Performing with nothing more than a semi-hollow body guitar, a pair of keyboard racks and (presumably) a bunch of effects pedals, watch as the shoegaze-inflected duo delivers a punishing rendition of their sickly-sweet single "Honey," complete with off-kilter keyboard solo and tremolo-heavy strums.
