The Weeknd Expands Canadian Tour Schedule with First Montreal Show

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 2, 2012

Reclusive noir & B sensation the Weeknd has only ever performed live a handful of times, but the singer also known as Abel Tesfaye has been slowly lifting his veil of mystery. With his high-profile Coachella appearance right around the corner, he has announced his debut performance in Montreal.

The gig will take place on March 23 at Metropolis. Tickets will be $44.40 when they go on sale this Saturday (March 3). You can get tickets here.

The Weeknd has also got some Ontario shows coming up in the next couple weeks. First up is Kingston's Alehouse on March 11, and then he'll play a pair of gigs in Hamilton: Mohawk College's Arnie Pub on March 13 and McMaster University's TwelvEighty on March 13.

He will also perform at Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, Spain on June 2, which will mark his first European show.

These gigs will presumably see the debut of the Weeknd's live band. He went searching for backing players earlier this year. And with an expanded set planned for his mixtape trilogy, 2012 is shaping up to be a busy year for the Toronto wunderkind.
