The Weeknd

"You Belong to the World" / "Kiss Land" (live video)

Hoping to build some more buzz behind Kiss Land, moody R&B crooner the Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) previewed some new tunes at Toronto's Mod Club last night (June 13). One such number was a Portishead-sampling stomper apparently called "You Belong to the World." If you weren't there last night, you can peep a fan-filmed vid down below.

The track juices up the tempo of the damaged rat-a-tat threaded throughout Portishead's "Machine Gun" and found Tesfaye pogoing like a madman before jumping into his smooth singing routine. The video isn't of the greatest quality, but the song eventually veers into more melodic territory and features love-laced lines ("You're the only one to make me smile"), as well as the repeated refrain of "You Belong to the World."

Also at the show, the Weeknd also played his new album's title track. You can check out the hometown premiere down below.
