We Talked About Murder

Expecting the Explosion

Is this screamo? I don’t think so, not enough screaming. Maybe it’s just DC-style emo? Not sure. What I do know is that I’m 35 years old and into a lot of different types of punk/alterna-rock but I’m not into this style of music. We Talked About Murder play that meandering post hardcore sound which just sounds ominous and important due to the minor-key discordant quality to it, but when you really listen closer, it’s usually just a bunch of semi-melancholy kids complaining about nothing in general. Fugazi were pretty good, and they usually have something to say, but these semi-obscuro "pop-screamo!?!" kids just don’t seem to have the juice.
