Published Aug 23, 2011The EP is an intrinsically humble format, typically offering too little material to have the same impact as a full-length. Nevertheless, that's not stopping from Brooklyn trio We Barbarians from calling their upcoming Headspace EP an "epic and propulsive five-song collection."
The release is due out digitally on August 30 via Beranimal Records, with a physical release to follow soon. According to the press release, the five tracks were partly inspired by the band's recent move from the West Coast to New York.
"We all grew up in California and have always been drawn to the idea of living on the opposite coast," explained frontman Dave Quon in a statement. "Every time we have toured through New York, we felt momentum and a strong sense of culture that we really admired. So, we decided to move to Brooklyn to see how it would effect our lives and mindset as a band."
Along with four originals, Headspace includes a cover of David Byrne and Brian Eno's "Strange Overtones." But for now, you can download the title track from Facebook for the price of an email address.
In support of the new release, We Barbarians are embarking on a tour starting August 31. The outing includes two scheduled dates in Canada: Montreal on September 2 and Toronto the next day. Scroll past the tracklist for the itinerary.
