We Are the City Prep Sophomore Album, Plan Feature Film

Last year, BC prog-pop trio We Are the City released their best work yet with their High School EP. Now, with original guitarist David Menzel back in the fold after a break, the band are preparing their sophomore full-length.

In a statement, the band revealed that they have finished pre-production on their new album. They wrote, "The album is shaping up to be what we consider our most definitive work yet, containing songs that were written over the last three years." It will be released by Hidden Pony Records in 2013.

They are once again working with producer Tom Dobrzanski (Said the Whale, the Zolas), who also helmed 2009's In a Quiet World. They noted on Facebook that they are the first band to record at Dobrzanski's new Monarch Studios. Tracking will take place in November and December.

In addition to recording, We Are the City are making a feature-length film. It will be a narrative that covers some of the same themes as the album. It is being co-written and co-directed by the band, along with the Amazing Factory, with filming taking place this month in and around Bergen, Norway.

Head to Facebook to check out photos from both the filming and the studio sessions, and follow their progress here on their website.
