Waxahatchee Revisits Her Early Recordings for New Release

Waxahatchee Revisits Her Early Recordings for New Release
Ahead of hitting the road for some upcoming dates, Katie Crutchfield has announced that her Waxahatchee project is set to repress some early recordings for an upcoming tape/digital release. Fittingly enough, the effort is called Early Recordings, and it arrives June 17 via Merge.

A press release explains that the upcoming reissue had initially arrived as a split release with Chris Clavin. These were the first songs ever written as Waxahatchee.

The split went out of print shortly after being released in 2011. Crutchfield explained that she "had largely forgotten about them [the songs] until this spring while on a solo tour of the West Coast." Now, she's decided to resuscitate the material for her fans.

"At first I was tentative about re-listening to these recordings, but the nostalgia I felt when re-hearing them was warm, and I thought it might be nice to make them available again," she said in a statement.

You can pre-order the set over here, and check out Chelsea Dirck's newly done cover art for Early Recordings up above.

Over here at Spark Mag, you can also download the track "Home Game" for a dollar. Proceeds will go to DIY PHL's First Time's The Charm, an event that "encourages inclusion and diversity in the music community by actively soliciting the participation of women, queer-identified folks, transgender people, people of colour, and musicians playing a new instrument or in a band for the first time."
