Waxahatchee Reveals 'Great Thunder' EP, Enlists Kevin Morby for "Chapel of Pines" Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 17, 2018

Waxahatchee has announced that the follow-up to last year's Out in the Storm will arrive in the form of an EP titled Great Thunder. It's due out September 7 via Merge.

The songs come from one of Waxahatchee mastermind Katie Crutchfield's previous bands, Great Thunder, though they've been reimagined and re-recorded with producer Brad Cook.

In total, the record features six songs, including previously-played-live track "Chapel of Pines." Serving as the lead single, it's been given the music video treatment.

The clip was directed by Christopher Good and stars Crutchfield along with Kevin Morby. It finds the pair traipsing through nature, but ends far less romantically than it begins.
