Wavves Get Their Own Custom Nikes

From weed grinders to rolling papers to comics to a videogame, Wavves mastermind Nathan Williams has already put his band's name on a curious array of products. But next up for him is a pair of flashy-looking Nike sneakers.

Today (March 21), Williams posted a photo of a pair of blue shoes on Instagram, along with the message, "Nike let me design a pair of shoes omgomgomg!!" Subsequent photos showed that the cool-looking kicks, which appear to be made from suede and leather, have a zipper on the side and the word "Wavves" stitched on the heel.

It's not clear when or if these shoes will ever be released commercially, so stay tuned for possible updates. This is the latest in a long line of shoemakers teaming up with artists, as acts like Best Coast, Bon Iver and Animal Collective have previously gotten their own customized footwear.

Wavves' latest album, Afraid of Heights, arrives next Tuesday (March 26). Read Exclaim!'s recent interview with Williams here.
