Wavves Detail 'Life Sux' EP Featuring Fucked Up and Best Coast

Back in the spring, lo-fi pop punker Nathan Williams hinted at his Wavves project unleashing an EP sometime in the summer featuring guest spots from members of Fucked Up and Best Coast. With the sunny season half over, we were worried Wavves wouldn't deliver, but Williams has just confirmed the record will be released before the equinox.

A press release explains that the upcoming set, titled Life Sux, will be the first release on Williams's newly launched Ghost Ramp label (the band has since left King of the Beach issuers Fat Possum). Wavves produced and recorded the record themselves at Infrasonic Studios in Alhambra, CA.

As promised, Best Coast leader and Williams romantic interest Bethany Cosentino stops by with bandmate Bobb Bruno on a number called "Nodding Off," which, given the pair's pro-weed slant, hopefully isn't a heroin reference. Fucked Up's Damian Abraham and Jonah Falco, meanwhile, pop up on "Destroy."

There's also a song called "I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl," which is a more common affliction for musicians than most people realize. The set closes with a live version of fan favourite "In the Sand" recorded at Black Iris Music in L.A. Check out the tracklisting below.

Spoken like a true punk, Williams had this to offer of the set: "If you hate yourself and other people, you might like our record."

As if the new EP wasn't exciting enough, the press release also confirms that the band are working on a new album, which should likely come out by year's end.

Life Sux will be available digitally, as well as on vinyl and CD on September 20 via Ghost Ramp.
