Based on samples like "Way Too Much," "Flamezesz" and "Heavy Metal Detox," it's beginning to look like Wavves' upcoming V album just might be Nathan Williams' best work yet. Adding more proof to that theory is the new pop anthem "My Head Hurts."
The peppy, quick pop punk jam is packed with ideas. There's the busy production, the layers of guitars, the relentlessly brisk drumming and Williams' melodic self-loathing. While Wavves has always delivered the goods on the pop song front, Williams' songwriting has hopped up to a new level of excellence.
"My Head Hurts" was premiered on Apple Music by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy (who described Wavves as the punk version of Odd Future, for some reason). The song can be streamed here.
V will arrive on October 2 through Ghost Ramp/Warner Bros.
