Professor Fingers

Part DJ, part pantomime, a mask-clad Professor Fingers kicked off night two of Wavelength 500. Easing into the evening like a vaudevillian into a musical tub (dangerous), Prof played the crowd, grinning affably while slowly adding layers to his mixed-bag sound. Endearingly, the strangely paced set was held together by light wackiness. Prof's spiraling mixes eschewed common sampling tropes, instead opting to layer crazed effects, faux keys and out-there melodies into an amiable, danceable mix. Sure, at moments the result conjured thoughts of sleeping with Trinity in a sweaty underground cave, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
