Hitting the stage to "Reunited" by Peaches and Herb, From Fiction reformed for their first gig since 2006. Centred on a walloping rhythm section and coloured by hearty, angular riffs, the four-piece played a coolly calculated show, piling on the tension, shredding it into catharsis, and offering occasional moments of grinning conversation as repose. Showing no signs of atrophy, the combo introduced a tight new cut, replete with a blues-infused intro and hardcore hoedown. Whether yelping to math rock concoctions or pinballing about, the energy never flagged. Tight, diverse and brisk, it was a thrilling return for a long overlooked outfit.
