While there's no sign of Ryan Gosling stage-diving at an American Nightmare show, there are plenty of dusty circle pits and shots of Rooney Mara playing guitar onstage. Further, you should keep your eyes peeled for a quick shot of Flea slapping da bass.
Of course, all of the musical festivities are backdropped with some absurdly grave dialogue and plenty of wacky handheld camera work. Whether or not this movie works will most likely depend on how much you can stomach Terrence Malick at his most Terrence Malicky.
