It's the inevitable moment we've all been waiting for: Nardwuar the Human Serviette has interviewed (recent Exclaim! cover stars) boygenius.
The boys — Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus — were in Vancouver on Friday (July 28) to begin the second leg of their North American tour with a performance at PNE Amphitheater with Carly Rae Jepsen and illuminati hotties, so naturally, they had to stop by Neptoon Records to chat with the Nard.
Obviously, the all-knowing interviewer gets dubbed a genius himself by the band. Also known for gift-giving being his love language, Nardwuar kicks off the interview by giving boygenius a custom "triple boost" guitar pedal with their names (and his face) on it.
He proceeds to steer the conversation through a laundry list of Canadian musicians that Baker, Bridgers and Dacus have been influenced by, including Japandroids, New Pornographers, original skeleton suit-wearer Neko Case, Peach Pit and Shania Twain. Baker also has a backwards That's So Raven moment, and the trio reminisce about coming close to crying at their Toronto show at Budweiser Stage last month.
