Eddie Van Halen sadly passed away last week at age 65 following a fight with cancer, and his legacy has been celebrated by nearly everyone. Among those appreciating his legacy are Vancouver pop-punk kingpins Gob, who have shared a memory of a particularly unique run-in with the guitarist.

On Facebook, guitarist Theo Goutzinakis recalled travelling to Los Angeles with reels of their album How Far Shallow Takes You to have it mastered. Leaving the airport, they noticed Eddie Van Halen and decided to introduce themselves.

"I was unbelievably excited to meet him since I remember having his poster on my bedroom wall when I was younger," Goutzinakis wrote. "Being pretty star stricken and stoked, I proceeded to and I'm sure of it now, annoy him with my questions about his guitars, his sound, his old marshal amp setup and such. I spent about 10-15 minutes talking to him about lots of things including Gob and what we were doing in LA. At this point my brother pulled out the video camera and filmed us at the end of meeting him. Eddie was gracious with his time but his tour manager had interrupted and asked if this was an in-store signing event which the story and filming concludes."
