Warren Zevon

My Ride's Here

BY Roman SokalPublished Jun 1, 2002

The classic '70s rock icon, Warren Zevon, returns with a solo album that is ultra-light-hearted and humorously self-effacing. There are no strong new anthems for the old generation, instead Zevon ventures into a family tree of influences, from Celtic tunes to simple rock numbers where the vocals and lyrics take precedence. Album highlights include the smoky Robbie Robertson-styled "You're A Whole Different Person," "Hit Somebody!" (which will surely please Canadian hockey lovers, featuring the playing of Tony Levin, Paul Shaffer and Sid McGuinness) and "You're a Whole Different Person When You're Scared," co-written with gonzo writer Hunter S. Thompson. My Ride's Here is perfect for those into maintaining regularity.
