For an electronic artist on the rise, there are few things better than a deal with Warp Records, and now capital letter-misusing experimenter patten has become the latest artist to sign with the respected label. His new EP, EOLIAN INSTATE, will be out next week on November 26 in North America.
This five-song EP follows patten's 2011 album GLAQJO XACCSSO. The new material apparently expands on the prior record's avant-garde style, since an announcement notes, "It seems that the past two years have been fruitful, seeing his ever-complex sound morph and splinter further with every performance."
Limited to 500 copies, the 22-minute EOLIAN INSTATE has been pressed on a 12-inch picture disc and housed in an untreated card sleeve. It's available to pre-order here.
The five-song tracklist is below. Scroll past that to watch a video for opening cut "Aviary," which matches its dense rhythms and disorienting electronics with similarly frantic and experimental visuals.
Expect a full-length to follow on Warp in 2014.
EOLIAN INSTATE:
A1. Aviary
A2. Towards infinite shores
B1. oea/Catalogue
B2. Obsidian Alms (mid-saccade)
B3. Sixth seven
