Published Mar 14, 2011Record Store Day is a little more than a month away, and we've already learned about plenty of exclusive goodies that will be coming to indie shops on April 16. Celebrated electronic label Warp will be getting in on the action, as it just announced a new twelve-inch from Flying Lotus, plus a split single featuring Bibio and Clark.
The Flying Lotus record is an accompaniment to his much-celebrated 2010 LP, Cosmogramma. A few months ago, the leftfield electronic guru released his Trigger webcam application, which allowed users to scan their copies of Cosmogramma and receive a number of outtakes from the album sessions. (See the demonstration video embedded at the bottom of this page.)
At the time, one fan posted a message on Facebook, suggesting that the label release these secret tracks on limited-edition vinyl. Warp decided to take this advice and is getting set to put out the functionally titled Cosmogramma Alt Takes. As an eight-track collection, it has a variety of different mixes, alternate arrangements and unheard songs. See the tracklist below.
Also on Record Store Day, Warp will put out a twelve-inch split featuring a song by Bibio, "Willenhall," backed by Clark's "Baskerville Grinch." Both tracks are previously unreleased. According to the label, it will be "housed in a classic Warp purple sleeve (the first Warp release to get this treatment in almost four years)."
Cosmogramma Alt Takes:
1. "Clock Catcher (Harp Arrangement)"
3. "Pickled (Stripped Version feat. MatthewDavid)"
4. "Drips Mix 3"
5. "Catacombs (Extended Version)"
6. "Galaxy in Janaki (2008 Version)"
7. "Galaxy In Janaki (String Solo)"
8. "Archway (Teebs Remix)"
