Saskatoon hip-hop producer Factor (a.k.a. Graham Murawsky) had a pretty good 2013, thanks in large part to his creepy concept album Woke Up Alone, which scored an Exclaim! Mark of Excellence for its pristine production and death-defying subject matter. Not to rest on his laurels, the Canadian-born beatmaker has announced a brand new project just in time for the new year.
Known as the Factor Friday's Single Series, on the last Friday of each month, Murawsky will be releasing a new single for the duration of 2014. For his first instalment, the heavy-hitting hip-hop producer met up with ongoing collaborator Myka 9 (of Freestyle Fellowship fame) to record "War with Yourself," which you can hear in the player below.
In this organ-heavy down clip, listen as the well-versed veteran raps about conquering inner demons, while Factor's minimalist musical accompaniment sways in and out of focus amongst skittering drum blasts and violent violins.
The track will also be available to purchase on iTunes come January 31.
