Walter TV

'Blessed' (album stream)

This Friday (July 10), Mac DeMarco associates Walter TV are releasing their album Blessed through Sinderlyn. For now, the entire thing can be streamed in full.

The home-recorded album begins with the DeMarco-like watery jangle of "Candles." But while Walter TV — two-thirds of whom play in DeMarco's backing band — bear some distinct similarities to their famed collaborator, their own music is an altogether stranger beast.

The vocals are constantly soaked in bizarre, wobbling effects, while tracks like "Walter's Kaya" and "Fan" are frantically jittery, and "Thanksgiving (Looper)" is a curious sound experiment. And then there's with kooky ditties "Punk Song" and "Surf Metal," which sound absolutely nothing like their titular genres.
