Walter Meego

The duo from Chicago that are Walter Meego sound more like they have been extracted from a Parisian electro music workshop, with a combination of sounds and a touch of funk recognisable from electro progressors Justice. Compositionally, they utilise pop sensibilities of French electronica group Air, and there are even some hints towards Daft Punk, such as the guitar licks in "Keyhole,” which are undeniably reminiscent of "Aerodynamic.” The structures vary between the ballad-like, Maroon 5 formula of "Baby Please” to the up-tempo "Wanna Be A Star,” and from the drive of "We Are Your Friends” to the downright ethereal "Your Love.” Nonetheless, they take these things and make them their own, being all of them and none at once, with a strange charm of having heard it all before but not quite being able to place it.
