Walrus

"Later Days" on Exclaim! TV

BY Lisa VanderwykPublished Sep 9, 2015

Walrus are a Haligonian five-piece who specialize in psychedelic pop sounds akin to the Brian Jonestown Massacre, MGMT and, obviously, the Beatles, whose Magical Mystery Tour track inspired the band's name. In three short years, Walrus have released several splits, EPs and singles, including the recent Glam Returns, which they performed at stops across North America earlier this year. When the tour passed through Toronto, the psych-poppers met us at Burdock for some brews and an Exclaim! TV session.

Walrus are brightly lit in a black room for this rendition of the track "Later Days." The melodic introduction comes to life when singer/guitarist Justin Murphy issues his hypnotic croon, and a sweetly psychedelic soundscape is born.
