The Walkmen Sign to Fat Possum, Begin Work on New Album

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Feb 10, 2010

For whatever reason, sophisticated New York indie rockers the Walkmen never stay on one label for long. In their ten-year career, they've had about half as many labels, with the latest being Fat Possum.

Yep, the Walkmen's next long-player will be released by the Mississippi imprint, which has released albums by everyone from old blues dudes to Wavves to Dinosaur Jr. and Andrew Bird.

According to a post on their MySpace blog, the band are currently in the studio plugging away on their follow-up to 2008's You & Me. There's no release date or anything announced yet, but the group are apparently producing the record themselves and working with engineer/mixer Chris Zane, who also helped out on You & Me.

If you live south of the border, the Walkmen also have a few shows lined up, including a SXSW appearance. You can get more info and the dates here
