Wake Island

"The Other End" (video)

The members of Wake Island have been splitting their time between Montreal and Beirut, and it's the latter city that gets shown off in a brand new video from the band. Exclaim! has your first look at the clip for "The Other End."

Following up "Caracter" and shot in Beirut using the band's cellphones and additional footage from Zoé Joly-Lopez, the visuals take the viewer through the streets and into the studio, where they get paired with a live in-home session of the song.

"The house we shot the song in has quite a bit of significance as it's the centerpoint of Beirut's double face," singer Philippe Manasseh explains. "Sandwiched between the city's most important and symbolic churches and the district of Gemmayze, the heart of the Beirut nightlife and debauchery, it quite nicely mirrored the subject of the song. "

Blending together glimmering guitar lines, space-y synths and emotive vocals "The Other End" is a just a taste of what's to come on the groups next album. Manasseh describes it as a song about "breaking free from paralyzing personality traits and toxic cultural pressures that prevent you from moving forward."

The full record won't arrive until April, but you can scroll past the group's upcoming live shows to check out the video for "The Other End" in the player below right now.
