Voice in the Wire

Signals in Transmission

Mature emocore that isn’t just about girls abounds on the debut full-length from Voice in the Wire. With production courtesy of D. James Goodwin, whose work with Murder By Death has yielded some incredible results, this record manages to ride a thin line that simultaneously allows the band to let their influences to shine through while separating them into a category all their own. Musically driving in the style of bands like Thrice, but with melodies more akin to Lagwagon, the band’s sound can rely a little too heavily on the heavy at times; dynamics are not a strong suit here. Still, tracks like "Second Story,” and the scorching closer "Steeltown Fight Song,” are remarkably energetic and catchy while maintaining a distinct edge and roughness that is all their own.
