VKNGS

"Daves of Thunder"

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jun 7, 2007

The Truro, NS-based Noyes Records (pronounced noise/noiz records, according to Wikipedia) is slowly collecting an impressive and diverse roster of artists: the '90s indie rock leaning boy for sale, the acoustic tenderness of On Film and the atmospheric post-rock vibes of Tomcat Combat. But Halifax's VKNGS are a whole different beast. Meshing their hardcore influences with more angular guitar paths and suffocated melody, they're obviously fans of the Dischord catalogue and long gone acts like Drive Like Jehu. Featuring ex-members of the Holy Shroud and North of America, VKNGS certainly share some of the DNA with those bands, but this song proves they've also injected a whole wack of steroids into their new sound. Check out their brand new, sweet lookin' clear twelve-inch out now on Noyes.
