Athens, GA singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt has faced enough adversity in his life, after a car accident at 18 left him paralyzed. Despite this, the musician has managed to write and record quite the number of haunting independent rock albums. Now, he has announced At the Cut, his 16th release and second for Canadian indie vets Constellation Records, who released 2007's excellent North Star Deserter.

Chesnutt's record is due out on September 22, and like Deserter, it features contributions from all of A Silver Mt. Zion (or whatever they are calling themselves these days), as well as former Fugazi member Guy Picciotto. The album was recorded at the legendary Hotel2Tango in Montreal.

According to the press release, At the Cut is "arguably the most intimate, pensive and heartbreaking work of Vic Chesnutt's career. Cowardice, courage, mortality, tenacity, defiance, mourning and memory are its themes."

At the Cut:

1. "Coward"

2. "When the Bottom Fell Out"

3. "Chinaberry Tree"

4. "Chain"

5. "We Hovered With Short Wings"

6. "Philip Guston"

7. "Concord Country Jubilee"

8. "Flirted With You All My Life"

9. "It Is What It Is"

10. "Granny"
