Vibration The Vibration

The Vibration are an all-girl post-punk band that formed in New York City in 2001. Equal parts Pixies, Sleater-Kinney and Siouxsie & the Banshees, with a pinch of Television and PJ Harvey thrown in the mix, they create dark atmospherics and paint delicate aural pictures, all the while maintaining their icy cool sound. It all sounds so simple as singer Ann Fitzgerald takes control of her vocals, wailing with both conviction and class, pulling you into her world, while her band-mates complete the spell with their solid musicianship. You get jarring guitars, hard hitting, heavy drums and all the catchy bass lines you could ask for. While utilising non-traditional song structures and awkward time signatures, the band never falls short of passion or emotion. The songs are edgy and intense — at first slowly wrapping around your head before hitting you in the face with their strength and delivery. (BC)
