Various Artists 'Translational Drifts: Moogfest Volume 1' (EP stream)
Moogfest isn't for another 10 months, but the synth-centric annual event has already announced that it will next take place from May 19 to 22 in Durham, NC. In the meantime, the festival has also revealed a covers EP called Translational Drifts: Moogfest Volume 1.

This five-song collection features contemporary artists covering classic synth songs. Dan Deacon covered Brian Eno's "1/1" in jittery fashion, Julianna Barwick did a beat-driven adaptation of Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream," ADULT. did Pet Shop Boys' "Shopping," YACHT did Devo's "Space Girl Blues," and Moses Sumney did Laurie Anderson's "O Superman."

Listen to the EP below. An announcement explains that this is "the first EP in a series of free digital recordings that feature Moogfest artists — past, present and future," so we can expect more EPs to arrive before long.
