This Ain't Your Mom's Hardcore Vol. 2

BY Dave SynyardPublished Aug 17, 2007

This DVD boasts a solid line-up of metal and hardcore bands. Artists featured include August Burns Red, As Cities Burn, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Chariot, Scarlet, the Number Twelve Looks Like You, Misery Signals, Classic Case, Remembering Never, Maylene and the Sons Of Disaster, and a few more. With all of those bands you’d wonder how this DVD could go wrong. Well, a good place to start is showing a disclaimer during the first five minutes telling the viewer that the camera wasn’t working properly and the sound quality was compromised. Many times the video editor has taken shots and dissected them into quarters, thirds and other fractions. The only thing this accomplishes is taking the focus off the bands. This DVD has a fairly straightforward style: show a few bands playing live then cut to an interview. However, the video quality, at times, lacks clarity. The interviews are generally pretty boring. However, highlights include Misery Signals’ three live performances from the Radio Rebellion Tour and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
