Snoop Dogg Presents The Big Squeeze

BY Omar MouallemPublished Jul 18, 2007

If The Big Squeeze was released ten years ago, it would just be discarded as another "Westside forever” CD without any substance. While it still is, it’s refreshing to hear some classic G-funk amongst an industry saturated by the shiny South. There’s nothing new here, nothing at all, but that’s the appeal. Snoop recruited ten puppies and veteran canines from his doghouse to turn back the clock and make the music that enamoured much of my generation the first time around. Tha Dogg Pound, MC Eight and Goldie Loc emerge from nowhere and unite with fresh faces Uncle Chuck, Azuré and JT Tha Bigga Figga. Instead of the modern beat-makers Snoop makes hits with, he has rehired Soopafly and Niggaracci. Snoop fans will be especially happy to know that he appears on two thirds of the album.
