F.U.N.

BY Cheryl RossiPublished May 1, 2004

This compilation unites 13 DJs that have produced a sweat-drenched euphoria at the Berlin club F.U.N. With its ’80s elements and sleazy vocals, the Italian X-Rays’ "Art of Joy” gets the getting down started. Next it’s Tiefschwarz and Eric D. Clark’s "Blow” with its dance-worthy beat and sinister/cheesy vocals. Then things get even darker with the goth/industrial flavour of Blackstrobe’s "The Abwehr Tango.” With its "I Feel Love”-like bass and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, DJ Naughty’s "DJs Can’t Dance” is the novelty number of the album. Afterward, Mocky breaks things up with broken beats and electroclash in "If U Could Only Know.” With its Village People-esque repetition of "Everybody,” Hybrid Funk’s track of the same name is one of the stinkiest on the album and the closer, the Capri Kids with Liora singing "I Need Somebody to Love Tonight” may leave one feeling a little nauseous.
