'From Cover to Cover: 30 Years at Nettwerk'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Nov 17, 2016

Nettwerk Music Group turns 30 this year, and to celebrate, the label is releasing a compilation highlighting artists past and present. You can join in on the party by streaming the album early, right here on Exclaim.ca.

Aptly titled From Cover to Cover: 30 Years at Nettwerk, the compilation features covers of songs by artists like Coldplay, Old Crow Medicine Show, Ron Sexsmith and the Barenaked Ladies — courtesy of more recent additions like Joshua Hyslop, Lily Kershaw and Great Lake Swimmers.

We've already heard Hey Ocean!'s Dave Vertesi deliver his stripped-down and sombre take on Gob classic "I Hear You Calling," but now you listen to the full collection of reinvented songs.

Opening with Scars on 45's version of Passenger's folk-pop hit "Let Her Go," the album delves into more experimental territory with cuts like Madi Diaz's electro-pop take on "You, Me and the Bourgeoisie" (originally by the Submarines) and album closer "Assimilate," which hears Radical Face rework the Skinny Puppy song.

From Cover to Cover: 30 Years at Nettwerk officially arrives on January 27, but for now, you can give it an early listen in the player below.
