The Fez File: Volume Uno: A Kaleidoscope of Modern Sounds

BY Oksana KolibabaPublished Oct 1, 2000

Hailing from Bari, Italy, producers Nicola Conte, Fillippo Bratta and Leo Benedetti have put together an album representative of 1960s Italian culture. The Fez File: Volume Uno: A Kaleidoscope of Modern Sounds blends a variety of musical elements, creating a well-balanced compilation. Stereo Action Unlimited's "Hi-Fi Trumpet" sings its magical song, bringing you back to a time when xylophones where wholly acceptable. In the 007 vein, Les Hommes bring us "Girl On a Mission" - get out of her way. Paying respect to the teachings of H.I.M. Haile Selassie I, Thievery Corporation tells us of their "Meeting With His Majesty" and the true fate of the Babylon system. Though inconsistent with the rest of the album, this one's my favourite.
