City Rockers: A Tribute to The Clash

BY Stuart GreenPublished Dec 1, 1999

While this is the second Clash tribute released this year, it's definitely the better one. Unlike the London's Burning collection that featured a bunch of big name bands trying to prove how cool they are, this one features bands that seem to have a natural affinity for the music of one of the most influential English bands ever. Such nouveau punk acts as Hot Water Music (“Clampdown”), Saves the Day (“City Rockers”), Error Type 11 (“Should I Stay or Should I Go?”), Demonspeed (“Rock the Casbah”) and 15 others let loose with their interpretations and should bring a whole new generation to the Clash's music. And the best part is you don't even have to like the Clash to like some of the songs as presented here.
