Various Auteur Labels: Les Disques Du Crépuscule 1980 — 1985

Inspired by a music festival in Brussels, label Les Disques Du Crépuscule came into existence at about the same time as the Belgian sister label of Factory Records, Factory Benelux. It developed its own unique identity very quickly and came to epitomise European sophistication, with its incredibly diverse roster, thanks to ties to many of the fashionable labels of the era, like Postcard and Rough Trade. Everything that the label represented is captured beautifully on this compilation, the strongest of LTM’s Auteur Labels series yet. With the likes of Josef K, Michael Nyman, the Pale Fountains and Anna Domino, this is a great snapshot of its back catalogue. Considering the label was known for its celebrated compilations (such as The Fruit Of The Original Sin and From Brussels With Love), there is a certain amount of redundancy to this disc. Still, there’s no arguing with the exquisite pop music beautifully presented here. (LTM)
