2 Many DJs - As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt.2

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jul 1, 2002

Thank God for Belgium. If it weren't for that graceful country this album would never have seen that light of day. Containing over 45 snippets of well- and lesser-known tracks that could only be cleared by the Belgians, 2 Many DJs - As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt.2 is the ultimate dance party. Concocted by the clowns that head the pop outfit known as Soulwax, 2 Many DJs... takes all the songs anyone would ever want for a dance compilation and spits them out to make the most perfect hour of music ever imaginable. Where else could you find Peaches' "Fuck The Pain Away" mixed into the Velvet Underground's "I'm Waiting For The Man" while the infamous opening drumbeat from Primal Scream's "Rocks" hammers in the background? Also, the Stooges' "No Fun" is playfully blended with Salt 'N Pepa's "Push It," while Skee-lo's "I Wish" is spliced by the Breeders' "Cannonball." And for the piece de resistance, Destiny's Child's "Independent Woman Part 1" falls into Dolly Parton's masterpiece "9 to 5" with Royksopp's "Eple" tailgating. Oh, and don't forget to move the CD's first track backwards to hear the tricky bastardisation of Kylie's "Can't Get You Out of My Head," which just adds to the chaos.
