Various We Make Colourful Music Because We Dance in the Dark

Originally formed as a loose DJ partnership between Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, !K7 Records' Alexander Waldron and music manager Dom Mentsh, Greco-Roman has grown from party organizers to label bosses. Culled from a string of twelve-inches released by the Berlin/London collective, We Make Colourful Music Because We Dance in the Dark works as part showcase for up-and comers (Grovesnor, Millennium, Roosevelt) and part artist fĂȘte made up of their established producers (Baio, Disclosure, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs). Comprised of 24 tracks, Greco-Roman's debut comp is split into two parts, Colourful Music collects singles like Hackman's chopped and screwed sampling of Alicia Keys on "Close," Micachu & Tirzah's left-field Balearic-beater "Not Dancing" and Joe Goddard's playful "Gabriel," featuring diva-sized vocals from Valentina, while Dancing in the Dark focuses on remixes, including standouts from Four Tet, Lone and Soulwax. We Make Colourful Music Because We Dance in the Dark is a gem of a find for house music aficionados who believe the new breed are still capable of creating smart, forward-thinking dance music.
