Relapse Records' Tribute Comp for Pat Egan

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 20, 2013

The Relapse Records family suffered a loss this week when longtime director of retail sales Pat Egan passed away from pneumonia and other complications. The label is now celebrating the life of its friend with a compilation called Patlapse.

The 20-song set features previously released favourites of Egan's from the likes of Baroness, Mastodon, Pig Destroyer, Brutal Truth, Zombi and more. It also features a previously unreleased tune from San Jose juggernauts Exhumed called "The Beginning After the End." The bands waived their royalty fees for the comp, and all proceeds will go directly to Egan's wife and daughter.

"Pat touched so many bands and had his hand in literally hundreds if not thousands of records of the years. This compilation is a collection of just a small handful of some of the bands that Pat was most passionate about both personally and musically," the label wrote. "Some of these songs are 'classic' Relapse songs, and some of them are brand new/unreleased songs that the bands wanted to give to help Pat's family out."

You can stream the release below and buy it on Bandcamp.
