The Labour Day Weekend is creeping up on us, which means that Vancouver's annual Victory Square Block Party is likewise just around the corner. The all-day event's line-up has just been rolled out, and it includes artists like blanket rock vets Woolworm, recent Mint Records signees Fake Tears, and Vancouver/Montreal dream-poppers Twin River.

A press release confirms that this year's festivities take place on September 6 in downtown Vancouver's Victory Square Park, and the free event will host a selection of locally-minded talent. In addition to Woolworm, Fake Tears and Twin River, this includes Ramzi, Other Jesus, Cave Girl, Gal Gracen, Whitney K, as well as DJ's Owen Willis and bb.yu.

Also on tap for the day is Musqueam artist Miss Christie Lee, who will perform an opening celebration, while sponsor CiTR 101.9 will be broadcasting on-site and conducting on-air interviews with artists performing at the Victory Square Block Party.

As in years past, proceeds from event sponsors and a day-of raffle will go towards supporting Megaphone, a Vancouver publication dedicated to issues in the Downtown Eastside, and CiTR.

"Everything is set for us to have an unforgettable festival this year," Victory Square Block Party/Music Waste organizer Mark Richardson said in a statement.

He added: "The line-up is really musically diverse and shows the variety of different sounds you can find in Vancouver's independent music scene right now. It's a great way for people to support Vancouver musicians as well as CiTR and Megaphone Magazine, all for free."
