Published Aug 13, 2010With the exception of last year's brief hiatus, Vancouver's Victory Square Block Party has become one of the most exciting aspects of fall in the city. The day-long festival has brought together some of the biggest names in Vancouver music and alternative comedy for a free, fun, outdoor event in the heart of the Downtown Eastside.
For 2010's triumphant return, the organizers have now announced this year's lineup, which include the Pack A.D., the Tranzmitors, Apollo Ghosts, Makeout Videotape, Sex Church, Ora Cogan and Lord Beginner. The event will also include sketch comedy from Manhussy, Emmet Hall's Bubble Orchestra, Pump Trolley, Chris Casillan and Toby Berner along with a stand-up set from Charlie Demers.
"The Victory Square Block Party is a great way for the city to come together and celebrate our local music scene," co-organizer Cameron Reed said in a statement. "And it shows how we can use our public space to put something on that is both fun and free."
The Victory Square Block Party will run from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on September 5 at Victory Square on the intersection of Hastings and Cambie. As always, the event will be free.
