Published Aug 11, 2011Fans of experimental electronic music and art rejoice: the West Coast's long-running New Forms festival will hit Vancouver again this fall for its eleventh configuration. The multimedia event will return this September and organizers will be bringing out a whole host of talent to celebrate.
The three-day event, which runs September 9 to 11, takes place at East Van culture hub the Waldorf Hotel. Bands scheduled to play throughout the club include Detroit house DJ Marcellus Pittman and New York outfit Mister Saturday Night, while also highlighting Vancouver locals like electronic busybody Teen Daze, Vincent Parker, Fine Mist, Andy Dixon, Flash Palace and experimental soundsmith Magneticring.
The biggest draw, though, will undoubtedly be a special outdoor show that takes place on September 11, with scheduled performances from hazy tropics-loving sound explorers the Sun Araw Band, Berlin beatsmith Deadbeat, the out-there V.Vecker Ensemble and No Gold.
A full list of performers can be seen here.
On the art front, the venue will feature "installations in the hotel rooms," and "projections and video mapping on the facade of the building" all built around the theme of "Public Domain."
The New Forms festival is held by the New Forms Media Society, a "non-profit society and media arts organization founded in 2000 that nurtures and connects local and international arts, science and grassroots communities."
