While Babe Corner are relative newcomers to the Vancouver scene, the indie/synth unit are ready to make their proper introduction. Following a two-track 7-inch on Kingfisher Bluez late in 2019, the West Coast four-piece are set to release their debut EP Killer, and you can get a promising first taste via the newly shared single "Cigarette."

The track arrives via a retro sci-fi video by director Lester Lyons-Hookham, who's helmed multiple Peach Pit videos, as well as clips by Winona Forever, Dead Soft and more.

The track is described as "a classic breakup tune balancing post-relationship frustration with triumphant noisy guitars, illustrating closure over the matter."

As you'll hear, "Cigarette" delivers a stunning piece of synth-sparkled jangle pop, balancing just the right amount of grit with some seriously hooky pop chops.

Of the song's theme, Babe Corner further break down "Cigarette" like this:

The song looks at the very first moments of a relationship from the very last, the initial pursuit of a lover being remembered after they have changed their mind, suddenly and inexplicably, leaving the narrator to sigh and say, 'I never needed any of this, I only wanted a cigarette.' Whatever words are left unspoken are heard loud and clear through the heavy, melodic instrumental breakdowns, and resounding cries of, 'YAH.' A raw and visceral reaction to whoever the bozo was that broke this babe's heart.

The Killer EP is set to arrive on February 27 with a release party at Vancouver's Red Gate that night.
