The long-running institution Vancouver New Music has just announced the programming for its 42nd year of operations, and fans of unique sounds will find plenty to love in their deep schedule.

Among the events is the 2015 edition of the Vancouver New Music Festival. This year's edition is called Nomadic Streams and features appearances from Loscil, crys cole, DJ Olive, Lawrence English, FLUX Quartet, Rafael Anton Irisarri, Steve Roden, Marina Rosenfeld, souns and Nick Storring. The fest takes place at VIVO Media Arts from October 22 to 24.

On top of that, the organization has unveiled the Vancouver New Music concert series, which will offer four shows at the Annex from November until next April.

Ambient master Tim Hecker kicks off the concert series on November 28, performing new works-in-progress that a press release promises are "partly derived from the early choral works of Franco-Flemish Renaissance-era composer Josquin, among other influences."

The series continues into 2016 with appearances from viole d'amore master Garth Knox on February 13, a reinterpretation of turntablism from Nicole Lizée, DJ P-Love and Rachel Kiyo Iwaasa on March 12 and a collaboration between eight blackbird and Sleeping Giant on April 30.
