Published Apr 03, 2014The annual TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival has a very loose definition of "jazz," and this year looks to be no exception. The festival has announced many of the acts that will be playing this year's event, and they include a variety of notable indie acts.
The festival runs from June 20 to July 1 in a variety of venues around town, and the performers in 2014 include Yamantaka//Sonic Titan, King Khan & the Shrines, Jill Barber (with opener Royal Wood) and Royal Canoe.
Of course, there are also a few acts with overt jazz leanings, including genre-spanning DJ Quantic, saxophonist Maceo Parker, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" singer Bobby McFerrin, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, singer Cassandra Wilson and more.
The club series will take place at Vancouver's Fortune Sound Club, while larger gigs will be at theatres like the Vogue and the Orpheum. Tickets for the club shows go on sale on Saturday (April 5), while some other shows are already on sale here.
