Published Jul 20, 2010The weekend of July 31/August 1 will see much wind-milling, floor-punching and scissor-kicking for the sixth annual Vancouver Island Hardcore Fest in Victoria, BC. Over 30 hardcore/punk bands, including Seattle's Shook Ones, L.A.'s Donnybrook! and Texas's Make Do and Mend, along with a slew of Canadian bands, will converge on Victoria for the two-day festival.
Other notable names at the fest will include Withdrawal, Crucified, Empire, Beartrap, Damages and Ill Intent. All of the bands list "hardcore," or, alternately, "raging hardcore" as their genre of choice, so it's sure to be a blazing good time.
The hardcore festival, which is presented by the Vancouver Island Hardcore Society, has grown since its inception six years ago. This year's shows will take place at the Da Vinci Center in Victoria West on Saturday (July 31) and at the White Eagle Hall in Esquimalt (a suburb of Victoria) on Sunday (August 1).
According to a press release, the VIHC Society is a registered non-profit society "dedicated to promoting an open, inclusive, alternative music scene - promoting all-ages events as well as 19+ covering the diverse music scene in the capital region."
