Vancouver will be the latest city to pair up with international advocacy organization Global Citizen for a live concert event. It's set to take place at the Commodore Ballroom on April 12, and the lineup includes Sam Roberts Band, the Elwins, Crown Lands and Horsepowar.

Fans hoping to attend can sign up for the free ticket lottery by joining the Global Citizen movement over here.

In anticipation of the event, participating activists will be emailing world leaders, signing petitions and using social media to support the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

The specific goals being championed at the Vancouver event are girls' and women's health, and climate change and agriculture.

The first Global Citizen Festival took place in New York City in 2012, and the organization has since hosted events in Australia, India and the UK. Montreal hosted a Global Citizen Concert of its own in 2016.
